Quality assurance
Along with bonding strength, the thickness of a diamond coating and its morphology are important factors when it comes to optimizing performance of your tools. Here at D-Coat, we are able to check those characteristics quickly and effectively, thereby guaranteeing the high quality of our coatings. Our quality control measures include:
- Measuring the thickness of the diamond coat with optical methods
- Determining coat morphology through light microscopy
- Checking adhesive strength with ultrasound and water/sandblasting tests
- Using laser measurement methods to determine the diameter of rotation-symmetric tools and components
- Determining the composition of carbide metals (WC/Co distribution) through X-ray fluorescence (XRF)
If you wish, we can collect and document the data for selected tools – all the way up to the finished tool position – and pass it along to you for your records.
